ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Welcome and congrats on taking the first step to reach out for support!
We all face challenges and struggles in life and having a space to talk openly about those challenges and identify ways to cope with them is crucial for each of us.
I believe that all counseling begins with a safe, judgment-free space where my clients and I can begin to build a positive and trusting relationship. I feel honored to walk alongside clients as they navigate a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, life stressors, and relationship concerns, among others. I strive to support individuals through education and validation while we explore together the potential tools that may be useful for you.
I work with teenagers through adulthood facing a variety of concerns. I believe in a person-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy but I also tap into multiple modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Gottman Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe there is power in learning ways we can challenge and reframe unhelpful thought processes and use self-compassion to change some of the internal narratives that run through our minds.
I received my Master’s in Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2012. I have a range of experience including work as a Mental Health Specialist with Head Start for Kent County, time as a crisis counselor, five years in the child welfare field, in addition to spending the past four years as a therapist with an Employee Assistance Program. In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, spending time with my kids and husband, and finding new adventures.
