ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Welcome! I know that therapy can initially feel intimidating and scary, so if you are reading this then please congratulate yourself on taking the first brave step toward resolving whatever issues you may be struggling with. My overall goal for our time together is to create a warm, caring, and relaxed atmosphere where you can feel seen, heard, and understood. I view therapy as a sacred space for us to process the complicated emotions that come with being human and to learn new skills to better manage them.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with over 6 years of clinical experience in the mental health field. I graduated from Grand Valley State University with my MSW in 2013, and since then I have worked in outpatient settings serving both teens and adults with a wide range of needs and concerns, including: grief/loss, stress, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, difficult life transitions, relational concerns, coping with chronic health issues, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, and trauma (to name a few). My experience working in both mental and physical health spheres has helped to shape my understanding of the mind/body connection, as well as universal truths regarding mental health and wellbeing.
The journey toward wellness can look differently for different people. Just as no two personal experiences and responses are identical, there is not one road map to success. Taking this into consideration, my approach to therapy is eclectic and ultimately client-centered; meaning I will meet you where you are at and tailor my therapeutic approach to fit your specific needs and goals. I operate under the assumption that you are the expert on yourself and your experiences, and I will bring to the table another lens in which to view these experiences. Treatment modalities I commonly utilize include CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Strengths-Based, Trauma-Informed, and Solution-Focused, among others.
If you are feeling ready, together we will make our way toward unlocking insights about you and your functioning, identifying resources and strengths that are already within, and focusing on uncovering and working through the barriers getting in the way of living the life you want. My hope is that we can partner together to move you closer toward greater acceptance, peace, connection, self-love, and joy.
